Living Space
The Music Interest Floor is located on the ninth floor of Wilder Tower. The living space consists of four suites with individual lounges, four double rooms, and a double for the RA. Six people live in each suite, in four singles and one double. The residents share a kitchen and lounge space in the suites.
The MIF housing draw system is separate from the main Residential Life housing lottery. The annual housing draw occurs at the end of the spring semester. We choose our rooms based on accumulated housing points. Members earn two points for every semester at the University of Rochester, two points for every semester as an on-floor member, and one point for every semester as an off-floor member. The Music Interest Floor offers a great living space and an opportunity to participate in a variety of musical and social events. Our floor also has a strong sense of community, and members frequently work, talk, and relax with friends in the lounges. We welcome any member of the University community, and invite you to visit, learn more, and meet the members of this thriving organization! |
Committees
ExternalThe external committee works with other on campus organizations for hosting joint events as well as spreading the word about MIF through fun events like open mic nights at Rocky's. This committee also is in charge of fundraising so we can have a source of income without requiring our members to pay dues.

InternalThe Internal Committee is how MIF interacts with MIF! Whether it be from Movie Nights, Playing Games and Trivia, or by going to a local farm! We are here to make sure everyone on MIF is having a good time!

PhilantropyThe Philanthropy Committee strives to give back to the University and the greater Rochester community through music. We hold fundraisers, charity events, and engage our floor with numerous volunteer opportunities. Being a relatively new committee, we aren't confined to a specified lineup of events, and we're always open to new community service projects.

We have recently formed a new constitution designed to be more adaptable and easier to understand. We tried to hold to our traditions as much as possible while making our constitution more closely aligned with how we now conduct business. Feel free to take a look!
